Progress on Regeneration the Garden

Published on: 27-03-12

We have now enjoyed several Thursday evenings of garden clearance from  a group of very selfless and positive minded volunteers. The improvement has been marked.

The four compost bins have been delivered and are in place. Their installation was the subject of a piece in the Argus.

It is intended that the raw material for the compost will come from the local community and Brighthelm kitchen.

Volunteer Garden Clearing Sessions

On Wed 9th November 2011 the third of several ‘volunteer garden clearing sessions’ was held at Brighthelm in the North Laine.

This time members of the council joined Brighthelm Trustees, members of the North Laine Community Association and a team of volunteers from Brighton & Hove Hotels Association.

Some hard to reach places around the perimeter of the garden were cleared and a lot of undergrowth was removed from the site.

As well as some physically demanding work the teams logged details on the grave memorials. They also came up with some brand new design ideas for Claire Potter and Oliver Heath, who are designing new features for the garden.
