12JulyBrighton & Hove Age Friendly City: The Future
People are living longer and the population of older people living in Brighton & Hove is growing fast.
For many of us this is great news but living longer can present challenges. The risks of developing dementia, long term and other conditions are increased, and there may be increasing frailty. This can result in loneliness and social isolation.
We would like your help to plan how our city can be a positive place to age well. Working together to reduce the stigma of ageing, and ensuring older people have improved health and wellbeing, enjoy good social connections, and feel independent and resilient to life’s challenges.
Please join us as we review our Age Friendly City work to date and plan for the future.
You will hear about:
- Achievements of the Brighton and Hove Age Friendly City steering group
- The work of the ‘Centre for Ageing Better’ in supporting age friendly approaches in other UK towns and cities
- The work of our local Age Friendly Forum which is led by older people
We will then work together to plan the next steps in how we can ensure that the voice of older people is fully involved in planning to make Brighton & Hove an age friendly place to live.
